[edit] What is the SkepticWiki?

<Insert reasons for doing this here>

[edit] How do I contribute?

Because of the problem of vandalism inherent in presenting opinions which some people will find difficulty in accepting, and to save time recovering materials that have been deliberately altered in a way that does not reflect the viewpoint of the authors, only registered users can add or edit articles.

To register, click "Create new account or login" in the top right hand corner of the window. We recommend that you enter your real name and a real valid e-mail address, in case we have to verify your account. Unverified e-mail addresses could be used by spammers and/or vandals, and so the account may be banned without notice if the SysOps cannot contact you.

[edit] Who can contribute?

Everyone, however anonymous editing is not allowed. Therefore, you must sign up to edit the skepticwiki.

For those that wish to have a new account, please email skepticwiki AT gmail DOT com and include your first and last name, location, and your requested moniker for your account.

[edit] Adding new content and changing articles

For all contributors, please try to keep the look and feel of each page consistent. There will be a template page created which can be used to delineate the best practice look and feel of this wiki.

Above all, remember that none of us are perfect and we will make mistakes, and that your finely honed article may be cut to ribbons if your arguments don't stand up on their own. The very nature of a wiki is that it is constantly evolving and changing as new information replaces old.

If you make substantial changes to the text (and by that I mean more than just a couple of lines or correcting spelling) then use the discussion page to say why you made the changes. This is just a matter of courtesy. You may want to add a rebuttal or a variation while keeping the text as it is - in which case add a level 3 heading with some title like "Rebuttal" or "Another View" and add it to the text.

If you wish to experiment please use SkepticWiki:Sandbox

Oh, and please use a spelling checker...
