From SkepticWiki
"Please could you use edit summeries (I'll get round to putting that in policy in a second)?"
Huh? What summaries are you referring to? (yes, I'm thick about wiki at the moment)

Got you!
Will do. Diamond 15 July 2005 06:39 (PDT)
[edit] Latex and Maths
Do you know what's required to set up the wiki to support LaTeX?
[edit] I'm able to change the wiki without logging in!
I've accidentally discovered that I can change the wiki without logging in. Was something changed that I don't know about? I'm pretty sure I stopped anonymous posting.

[edit] from my user page
Thank you for your help in putting my feeble attempt at contributing in the proper format and location. I had avoided the Memes heading because it was marked for destruction (must be a hyperspace bypass coming through ;) ). I wonder about a couple of things, though: 1. Should acronyms applying to JREF forum headings (such as R&P for religion and philosophy) or well-known threads (such as TTSoTTTWND) be included? 2. Should there be further explanation given of some items (such as Intelligent Design being a recent argument against Evolution and Darwinism) or should these be refered to separate articles elsewhere?
I don't know squat about formatting or style of a Wiki, so any help is appreciated.
Dave
- Thanks, Geni.
- When you wrote "It works better if you leave notes on peoples User Talk pages" did you mean I should have done this and the previous message differently, or are you referring to when I make any additions, or something else? I am dead new to this, and could use any examples/references/suggestions you or others can offer. CaveDave September 29, 2005 23:54 (GMT)

Do we let him carry on, or just bite the bullet and ban him? --Diamond 17:35, October 29, 2005 (BST)
Why would you want to ban me?
You've already censored my articles on RV and Uri Geller, so it's clear that you only want your side of the story and no one elses. Hmm, I guess that means you have to ban me anyway.
Luci, he edited your article on RV because it wasn't very good. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia, not a public testimonial. If you looked up the word "aspirin" in the encyclopedia, you would want to know what it was, how it was made and used, who had invented it, what the problems with it were, and so forth. A testimonial by someone saying "I had a headache once, and I took aspirin and it cleared it up right away!" isn't an encyclopedia article. --Dr Kitten 21:50, November 4, 2005 (GMT)
[edit] FSM Images
Would I have to write to Bobby Henderson? The reason I ask if that all the images of the FSM are available for download and BH asserts no copyright over the image.

[edit] Tightening up the registration process
Is it possible to configure the wiki to make a valid e-mail address mandatory for new account creations?
[edit] Is there a link from the main skepticwiki.org page to the wiki itself?
If there is, I must be missing it. It's odd that I can type skepticwiki.org and get to the wiki forums, but not to the wiki main page. Dr Kitten <whenever>
[edit] Talk / Discussion, bla bla
Why is the Talk page called the "Talk" page, when it is labeled "Discussion"? Shouldn't the heading be "Talk"?Fyslee
[edit] Suggestion: Personal Sandbox
Would it be possible to create a new tag at the top of each User page, labeled Sandbox (or something like that)?
I'm envisioning a private place where we can all make our own experiments, screwups, planning, and scribbling, without anyone else being able to look over our shoulders, vandalize or steal our work, or otherwise harass us.
It should be a place that is locked to outsiders.
Is it possible? -- fyslee 14:19, 30 December 2005 (GMT)

[edit] Changes to the Wiki
Geni-
Don't take this personally, I'm condensing and reorganizing things. I demoted everyone who had sysop status to "beaurocrat" status and going over some hacks to change the permission rights structure of users on the wiki. Nothing personal, nor is this reflective of you in anyway. Simply a change to test out some db stuff. Email me and we can talk about it.

Ok disregard. upon fully breaking the test environment I set up fooling with the features like I wanted, I have reset you back to admin until I sort out how exactly to set things how I want.
That'll learn me to jump in without RTFM.
Sorry for the bother.
